A new colleague

Our newest employee, Antwan, is certainly no stranger to the cheese world. He shares his career path and when he caught "the cheese bug," as he puts it:

My entire career has revolved around food. I trained as a chef and worked in the hospitality industry for years. After a few years, I decided to move away from the shop floor and into retail. I started at Hanos, the largest supplier to the hospitality industry in the Netherlands. That's where I ended up working with the cheese selection. Slowly but surely, cheese began to have an impact on me. After a few years, it was time for something new. I was asked to help set up the cheese department at a new market hall in 's-Hertogenbosch and then worked as a sales assistant in specialty cheese shops for a few years. Five years later, I made a foray into fresh produce (potatoes, vegetables, and fruit), but that couldn't match the cheese world. So I took the plunge and contacted Remijn Cheese Shop and asked: "Do you have any openings for me?" After a few months, I was able to start a sales role at Remijn Cheese Shop.
