Master Refiners
Cheeses made from breed-specific milk
A few years ago, the milk quota in the dairy farming sector was abolished. This eliminated the limit on the amount of milk a farmer was allowed to produce. For some farmers, this was the opportunity to bring their milk out of anonymity and strive for better valorization of their product. This is how the Meester-Affineurs brand was born.
These cheeses are made with breed-specific milk from six unique breeds: Blaarkop, Montbéliarde, Saanen goat, Lacaune sheep, Meuse-Rhine-IJssel (MRIJ), and Lakenvelder. This gives not only the cheese itself, but also the animal and its origins, a unique story.
Master Refiners as part of Cheese Shop Remijn
Since 2021, the Meester-Affineurs brand has been part of Kaashandel Remijn. The cheesemakers themselves lacked the time and space to give these special cheeses the attention they deserve. That's why we proposed taking over the brand and marketing, a move that has proven successful.
Since then, we have actively invested in further promoting these unique cheeses and the rich stories associated with them. Each variety has its own cheese passport developed, highlighting its origins and character. We also regularly provide related promotional materials, such as posters, to reinforce the story on the shop floor.
