What once went by boat…
In 1908, fifteen dairy farmers from Bleskensgraaf decided to join forces to open a dairy factory. This marked the birth of De Graafstroom Dairy Factory. Fun fact: at that time, the milk was transported to the factory by boat across the Graafstroom river, hence the name.
Cheese from the heart
Since 2009, De Graafstroom Dairy Factory has been part of the DeltaMilk dairy cooperative. Over 200 dairy farmers supply their milk, which is then used to make cheese. These dairy farmers jointly own the factory.
Indispensable part
The factory is located in Bleskensgraaf, in the heart of the Green Heart of the Netherlands. Here you'll find green polders, ditches, windmills, and those typical Dutch meadows with cows as an indispensable part of the landscape. This region is a place where the cheesemaking profession has existed for centuries.
