Silver for Stompetoren Jong at the Gouda Cheese Awards

At the 2025 Gouda Cheese Awards, our Stompetoren young cheese was selected as one of the three finalists in the Gouda young cheese category. An honorable achievement, especially considering the strong field of participants.

Never before had so many cheeses been submitted: a whopping 36 in the Gouda Young category. In May, all entries were blind-tasted and assessed for flavor, texture, and aroma. The three highest-rated cheeses in each category then went on to the grand finale at the Gouda Market.

Kees Remijn, representing Cheese Shop Remijn, took the stage. In the finals, the cheeses were tasted and judged by a professional jury consisting of Mayor Pieter Verhoeve, journalist Anne-Marie Visser, and Michelin-starred chef Remco Kuijpers of restaurant LIZZ. Ultimately, we narrowly missed out on gold and proudly took home the silver medal.
